What do I need to do with my plates?
At the time of sale, plates should be removed from the vehicle. They can be kept, destroyed, or transferred by the person who owns them.
Is there anything else I need to do?
You may need to notify the DMV that you sold your vehicle in order to complete the transfer process.
Don't cancel your insurance until you've taken care of your plates and registration for this state. Once those steps are done, contact your insurer to remove the vehicle from your policy.
