What do I need to do with my plates?
The plates must be removed. They can be kept or transferred to another vehicle through your local DMV office.
Is there anything else I need to do?
You may need to notify the DMV that you sold your vehicle in order to complete the transfer process.
You may be eligible for a registration credit if purchasing a new vehicle.
Don't cancel your insurance until you've taken care of your plates and registration for this state. Once those steps are done, contact your insurer to remove the vehicle from your policy.
