What do I need to do with my plates?
Vehicle owners must remove the license plate(s) from their vehicle whenever the vehicle is sold or transferred. The plates must be turned into a registration office or transferred to a new vehicle.
Is there anything else I need to do?
You may need to submit a Affidavit for Removal of Registered Vehicle from Vehicle Registration Files (MVR-46F)form to remove the vehicle from your name.
Don't cancel your insurance until you've taken care of your plates and registration for this state. Once those steps are done, contact your insurer to remove the vehicle from your policy.
