What do I need to do with my plates?
The plates must be removed from the vehicle. They can be transferred to another vehicle.
Is there anything else I need to do?
You must complete a Notice of Sale (Form 5049) or Bill of Sale (Form 1957) and submit it to the Department of Revenue within 30 days of the sale.
Don't cancel your insurance until you've taken care of your plates and registration for this state. Once those steps are done, contact your insurer to remove the vehicle from your policy.
