What do I need to do with my plates?
The plates can be transferred, destroyed, or mailed to your local OMV office. They can also be canceled online.
Is there anything else I need to do?
You must fill out the Louisiana Notice of Vehicle Transfer.
Don't cancel your insurance until you've canceled your registration with the state. Once that's done, contact your insurer to remove the vehicle from your policy.
