What do I need to do with my plates?
You don't need to turn in your license plates at DMV. Plates can be transferred to a new vehicle for a fee or turned over to the County Clerk.
Is there anything else I need to do?
You may need to submit the Affidavit of Incomplete Transfer to your County Clerk in order to notify them that you have sold your vehicle.
Don't cancel your insurance until you've taken care of your plates and registration for this state. Once those steps are done, contact your insurer to remove the vehicle from your policy.
