What do I need to do with my plates?
You can keep the plates and transfer them to a new vehicle, or you can cancel them by emailing a Plate/Registration Cancellation Request to SpecialPlates@ITD.Idaho.gov.
Is there anything else I need to do?
A Notice of Release of Liability form and a $3.50 fee must be submitted, by mail or in person, to your local county assessor motor vehicle department within 5 days of selling the vehicle. A Notice of Release of Liability can also be completed online.
Contact your insurer directly for steps to remove the vehicle from your policy.
