What do I need to do with my plates?
Remove your plates. You may keep them or transfer them to another vehicle.
Is there anything else I need to do?
You may need to notify the DMV that you sold your vehicle in order to complete the transfer process.
You may be eligible for a credit voucher.
Don't cancel your insurance until you've canceled your registration with the state. Once that's done, contact your insurer to remove the vehicle from your policy.
If you receive an insurance verification notice after selling, you must submit your bill of sale to the state to prove the vehicle was sold.
